| Description | Journal: Plasma Sources Science and Technology Summarizes various numerical descriptions of charged particle kinetics which are self-consistent with the electric field, and in situations where both space and time variations of the field must be considered. A brief review of two self-consistent kinetic methods is presented, along with a discussion of their respective strengths and weaknesses. A 'hybrid' model is then described which utilizes elements of non-kinetic plasma models (fluid or continuum models) to reduce the computational load while retaining much of the physics of the fully self-consistent kinetic methods. |
