Description	Journal: Physics World Commercial fusion power plants might still be decades away, but nuclear fusion will provide many opportunities for industry over the next few years. That was the message at a recent meeting organized by the UK Atomic Energy Authority (UKAEA) to alert companies to the potential of the €4.5bn International Thermonuclear Experimental Reactor (ITER) – the world's next big fusion experiment. Construction of ITER could begin as early as 2005 if negotiations between the project's four partners – the EU, Japan, Russia and Canada – go to plan.
