| Description | Journal: Japanese Journal of Applied Physics Some metal films, mainly of Permalloy and Ni, were deposited on the surface of silicon grease plastered over glass substrates and their magnetic properties were compared with those evaporated directly on glass surface in order to know the substrate effects on the properties of evaporated thin films, The nature of these films is closely related to their preparation conditions. Au, Ag, Al, Ni and Permalloy films on grease exhibit a contraction in several per cent on account of their wrinkles. Fe vapour is, however, reflected back on the grease surface. Permalloy films on grease show only a small variety in B-H hysteresis loops and their coercive forces are nearly constant in a relatively small value for the thickness variation. Ni films on grease are by far easily magnetized compared with those on glass because the relaxation of internal stresses reduces their perpendicular anisotropy. |
