NDLI: The central peak near structural phase transitions

Description	Journal: Journal of Physics C: Solid State Physics The closely elastic peak seen in neutron and light scattering from materials close to a structural transformation is explained in terms of a standing soft phonon wave decorating defects in the materials. A model predicting the variation of intensity with scattering vector and temperature is developed.
