| Description | Journal: Journal of Optics A: Pure and Applied Optics An important property of electromagnetic waves, which has not been clearly formulated in scientific and educational literature until now, is derived from the Airy formulas: the phase difference between waves reflected and transmitted through a dielectric slab enclosed between optically identical media is equal to π/2 irrespective of optical parameters of the slab and the enclosing media, wavelength and polarization. |
