| Description | Journal: Semiconductor Science and Technology Various aspects of optical characterization of II-VI epitaxial layers using different experimental methods are discussed. It is shown that excitation spectroscopy and magneto-optics of transitions assigned to different impurity-exciton complexes in ZnSe and ZnTe are essential means of an unambiguous identification of these systems and the impurities involved. In particular, spectroscopy of the so-called two-electron or two-hole satellites gives evidence on the chemical and structural nature of the impurities. High-density luminescence and transmission spectroscopy yields information on the specific conditions for biexciton formation, exciton-exciton collision and electron-hole plasma creation in thin epitaxial films. |
