| Description | Journal: Journal of Physics E: Scientific Instruments Earlier work on a substitution method for the accurate measurement of the low frequency dielectric constant of a solid has been extended to allow for the effect of stray capacitance. This predicts a simple trend, of the apparent dielectric constant of the solid with the dielectric constant of the substitution liquid, which has been verified experimentally. Applying the method to a sample of pure fused quartz yields a value of 3.80751+or-0.00003 at a frequency of 1592 Hz and a temperature of 25.O degrees C, compared with 3.8073+or-0.0004 using the earlier technique. |
