Description	Journal: Physics World Almost 10 years ago the integer quantum Hall effect (IQHE) was discovered by Klaus von Klitzing, Gerhard Dorda and Mike Pepper for which Klaus von Klitzing was awarded the Nobel prize in 1985. A few years later the fractional QHE (FQHE) was discovered by Dan Tsui, Horst Störmer and Art Gossard who were awarded the 1984 Buckley prize of the American Physical Society.
