| Description | Journal: Journal of Physics B: Atomic and Molecular Physics Multi configuration Hartree-Fock (MCHF) wavefunctions of barium were used for a configuration interaction calculation including spin-orbit coupling. Since the energy spectrum of the interacting states is rather dense the mixing parameters of the intermediate coupling wavefunctions show unexpected high values as a consequence of resonance in energy. For this effect indirect interaction is important. Even though the calculation can't predict correct amplitudes in those cases the effect must be real. Its bearing on transition probabilities was studied. |
