Description	Journal: Journal of Physics C: Solid State Physics The recently developed density functional theory of freezing is applied to the two-phase coexistence between a fluid of large and small hard spheres and a solid of large spheres embedded in a fluid of small spheres. The presence of such a host fluid of small spheres is shown to be an important aspect of colloidal crystals and of super-ionic-conductor-like phases.
