| Description | This chapter aims to present the data involved for the incoming practice session. It relies on freely available data, disposed as the Amsterdam dataset. The chapter explains how to download and prepare this dataset in order to be ready for the practice session. Create a directory named amsterdam on one's file system. The Amsterdam dataset consists in one very high resolution Spot-7 image acquired over the city of Amsterdam, and a vector layer containing the buildings. The chapter explains how to download the Spot-7 image, and generate the vector layer from OpenStreetMap (OSM) data. The OSM plugin is a user-friendly tool that enables to download Open Street Map data over a region of interest. In the menu, select Plugins > Manage and install plugin.
