| Description | Journal: Women's History Review Much recent work in women's history has tended to stress continuity rather than change. Often denying the importance of economic factors such as capitalism and industrialisation, it has seen a study of patriarchy as central to all women's history and relegated class, race and other factors to a secondary role. The attempt to redefine within restricted parameters that legitimate women's history rests on assumptions that need close examination. It could threaten much of the achievement of the last 30 years and finally, and irretrievably, isolate women's history. |
