| Description | A greatly enlarged second edition of the bibliography has proved to be necessary about five years on from the publication of the first edition. This is the result, partly of the continuing development of curriculum studies in the United Kingdom, partly of the interest shown in the curriculum by scholars in other areas of educational enquiry, and partly of the rapid changes in the socio-cultural context in which the curriculum is discussed, designed and transacted. This edition reflects these developments: it is almost twice as long as the previous publication; it contains new sections on curriculum history (compiled by David Hamilton), curriculum management (compiled by Ken Shaw), 'official' publications, and journals; it has greatly expanded sections on the sociology of the curriculum and on curriculum evaluation, assessment, and accountability. The book retains its British emphasis; no attempt is made to introduce readers, except indirectly, to developments in curriculum studies in North America. In one respect I have revised my original conception of the bibliography: I now believe that it can serve not only students on B.Ed, courses and advanced diploma courses but also M.Ed, students throughout their courses, though some of the reading undertaken by the latter may well go beyond my entries. As before, I would like users' reactions. A third edition is a distinct possibility — made more likely if users, once 'inside' the field, make their own contribution to the development of curriculum studies through publishing material based on their own thinking and/or research.
