| Description | The design of experiments (DOE) enables researchers to plan or design an experiment that simultaneously alters a number of variables in an experimental system to see how they affect and interact to affect responses. The process is obviously handled with predefined statistical parameters that the experimenter will use to draw objective, reliable conclusions by controlling experimental variation and estimating its magnitude to guarantee accuracy. The DOE approach also allows experimenters to keep the size of the experiment no larger than necessary to meet objectives. Specifically, this chapter addresses the concepts of DOE from at least three distinct approaches without the heavy statistical and mathematical equations; these approaches are classical design, Taguchi design, and Shainin methodology.
