| Description | A numerical decomposition technique is used for this investigation. Relationships between deformability parameters of jointed rock and joint geometry parameters such as joint density, joint size/block size and joint orientation, are shown through 3D plots. Deformability properties of jointed rock are also expressed in terms of fracture tensor parameters. An incrementally linear elastic, orthotropic constitutive model which incorporates the effect of the joint geometry network and the scale-dependent behaviour of jointed rock is suggested to represent the pre-failure mechanical behaviour of jointed rock.
