| Description | General practitioners are primarily providers of health care for their patients. By and large, they want to deliver the best they can, and if they can't provide a service themselves, they want to obtain the best they can from elsewhere. Elsewhere may be a hospital or it may be some other 'centre of resources' which would enable the GP to offer more, or better services, or services closer to patients' homes. Currently one of the most popular ideas is to build or to refurbish a 'primary care resource centre' to house a number of facilities which several GPs can use to offer services which they are unable to provide from their own surgeries.
