| Description | A meta-analysis of tasks related to prospective memory that require planning, hypothesizing, and performing tasks indicates that there are significant age-related deficits when these tasks are performed in a laboratory; but equally, there are significant age-related benefits when the tasks have a more natural quality or they are performed in more natural conditions. The use of information technology at work and at home has long been at the center of the attention of researchers and practitioners of information systems. Research methodologies using three-dimensional virtual environments have been used in experimental psychology since the last decade of the twentieth century. The control group consisted of people who were trained using standard, currently used methods, which included workplace instructions and an instructional video depicting the course of tasks performed at a simulated workplace.
