| Description | Journal: Australian Academic & Research Libraries While the goals of rationalising the retention of low-use print research collections, releasing library space, preserving and providing efficient and cost-effective access to print research collections are common to academic and research libraries on a global level the approaches and developments in the United Kingdom, Europe, the United States and Australia have all been different. This paper describes the creation and evolution of an Australian print repository, the CARM (CAVAL Archival and Research Materials) Centre, within the context of international developments. CAVAL is an Australian not-for-profit company established to provide library services to libraries in the region. CAVAL's members and owners are 11 Universities located in New South Wales, Tasmania and Victoria. |
