| Description | Fatigue cracking of rib-to-deck welded joints is one of the main fatigue diseases of orthotropic steel deck (OSD). The rib-to-deck double-sided welded joints were important to develop the fatigue performance when compared with the single-sided welded joints. In this study, a finite element model with fatigue crack was established. And the stress intensity factor (SIF) of fatigue cracks of rib-to-deck double-sided welded joints and single-sided welded joints under vehicle load was calculated and compared. The influence of the parameters such as weld penetration rate and the thickness of deck plate on the SIF of fatigue crack of double-sided welded joints was analyzed. The results showed that the fatigue crack of rib-to-deck welded joints of OSD is mode I-II-III composite crack. The maximum SIF of the fatigue crack of the deck welded root of the rib-to-deck double-sided welded joints is 64.3% less than that of the single-sided welded joints. The double-sided welded joints can effectively improve the fatigue performance of OSD. Compared with the welded penetration rate, the thickness of deck plate has a great influence on SIF of the fatigue crack of rib-to-deck double-sided welded joints.
