| Description | This study was conducted to identify the challenges faced by interim teachers in Malaysian Vocational Colleges in their early teaching profession. A qualitative approach was used and the data were collected through interview sessions conducted with five interim teachers from two Malaysian Vocational Colleges. The framework of teaching by Charlotte Danielson was used as a guideline in studying the challenges faced by interim teachers in vocational colleges. The findings show that the biggest challenges faced by interim teachers were related to work stress and managing students' behavior, and discipline during teaching and learning activities. It is hoped that this study becomes a guideline for vocational college administrators, the Malaysian Institute of Teacher Education (IPGs), as well as the Technical and Vocational Education Division (BPTV) itself, in order to pave a better transition for the Malaysian Vocational Colleges interim teachers to become professional educators.
