| Description | We have developed the AE method for in-situ stress determination under confining pressure in order to expand its applicability to a soft sedimentary rock. We have applied the method to the sedimentary rock from Tono mine, and compared the results with the past study and FEM calculation. The in-situ vertical stresses were successfully obtained from 22 rock specimen by means of two type of criterion for unintentionally determination of AE increasing point. The criteria (1) is based on the maximum change in AE counts, and the criteria (2) is the method by just picking first take-off points in AE counts. The estimated stress values are about 1–4 MPa which is reasonably similar to the past study. We evaluated the distributions of vertical stress using two different criteria along the vertical borehole, and they are consistent with the FEM calculations assuming without and with the drift, respectively. |
