| Description | Inkjet printing is a nonimpact printing process in which ink is ejected through very small orifices to form droplets that are directed to a medium to create an image. The mechanism by which a stream of liquid becomes unstable and breaks into droplets was first analyzed by Lord Rayleigh in 1878. The challenge for ink jet printing has been to control this process so that uniformly sized droplets can be produced reliably. Two main technologies have been developed to achieve this goal: continuous and drop-on-demand printing. Book Name: Handbook of Imaging Materials |
