| Description | In recent times, continuously increasing demand on improved performance for materials such as lead has increased the role of surface engineering in the industry to a point where homogeneous materials cannot meet some requirements anymore. For this reason, composite coatings that combine adhesion and corrosion resistance of electroless nickel with hardness and other properties due to the presence of particles are becoming increasingly popular. This chapter discusses the synthesis of composite materials by co-deposition of particles with desired properties with electroless nickel coatings, which leads to electroless composite coatings. This chapter deals with the components, processing techniques, preparation, and effect of variables on the electroless nickel (phosphorous or boron) composite coatings.
