| Description | Gelled media of a very varied nature are being used in recent years for the cleaning of artworks. In this study, a practical analysis of the product known as Nanorestore $Gel^{®}$, a chemical hydrogel designed for the cleaning of artistic works, has been carried out. For that, an experimental protocol has been developed to control the cleaning efficiency and the secondary effects of its action on the chosen pictorial surface (oil and acrylic paint). In order to achieve so, prototypes with specific characteristics has been made to be submitted to experimental tests. In this first practical approach, three gels have been tested: Dry, Maximum Dry and Extra Dry. Attending to the cleaning results obtained, the Dry gel presents the best behavior.
