| Description | This study gives a view on composite concrete made with natural coarse aggregate fully and partially replaced with artificial aggregates and quarry dust as fine aggregate. The compressive strength of the above composite concrete specimens at an age of 7 days, as conforming to IS standards, was determined to study the early age strength. This work mainly throws light on the compressive strength and applicability of the above-mentioned composite concrete in construction industry. In the present work, epoxy resin as a major substance is used as a binder for casting artificial aggregates. In an early study of the corresponding author, different percentages of Epoxy resin by weight of fly ash was weighed and mixed with fly ash and as per the results an optimum mix was achieved to manufacture artificial aggregates with indigenous equipment, and the same were tested for all the properties of natural aggregates conforming to IS standards. In this present study, to investigate the suitability of artificial aggregate in concrete, specimens are laid by fully or partially replacing the natural coarse aggregates with artificial aggregates and quarry dust. Compression testing was performed on the same composite concrete samples at an age of 7 days for their suitability in construction industry. All results were found satisfactory to use this new composite concrete in conventional concrete practice. Book Name: Circular Economy in the Construction Industry |
