| Description | Routing, which is one the core functionalities provided by computer networks, is the process of finding a path between the data source and its destination(s). Routing usually builds “minimum cost” paths between a pair of nodes where “cost” can be a function of distance (e.g., in number oh network hops), latency, bandwidth, remaining battery level at intermediate nodes, and a combination thereof. Data forwarding, another core network functionality, uses paths determined by routing to forward data from sources to destinations. Routing and forwarding are typically performed by specialized network appliances called routers. Book Name: Delay and Disruption Tolerant Networks |
