| Description | Graphene has attracted enormous attention among researchers because of its existence in freestanding form, high surface area, excellent flexibility, and significantly high electrical conductivity and unique physical, chemical, and mechanical properties and easy synthesis process by several methods. Recently, graphene powders are in forefront of research because of the possibility of applications as anode materials in lithium-ion batteries (LIBs) as lithium ions are easily bound to both sides, edges, and active sites of the graphene sheets. Graphene with nano- and micropores, in other words, porous graphene is also a subject of intense investigation due to the enhanced electrochemical properties. Doping with N or B also significantly enhances the specific capacity and rate capability of the doped graphene sheets used as an anode in LIBs. Here, we review a brief analysis of the basic characteristics of undoped/doped and porous graphene and highlight the applications as anode materials in LIBs.
