| Description | Diaphragm wall is frequently used as the retaining wall or the cut-off wall for open cut excavation. The trench wall stability is the key issue for the design and construction method of diaphragm wall. The aim of this study is to investigate the trench wall stability during excavation in saturated sand. Field measurement of the pore-water pressure variation during diaphragm wall excavation were carried out. The mechanism for the variation of pore-water pressure and its effect upon the factor of safety for trench wall stability is quantitively evaluated using the limit equilibrium method. The results obtained from this study will be introduced into the control for the trench wall stability during excavation. Book Name: Modern Tunneling Science and Technology |
