| Description | High performance aramid fibers are widely used in ballistic protection. They are incorporated into a wide range of structural and impact resistance applications that require high performance and lower weight. With the increase in kenaf content, the ballistic properties of the hybrid composites decreased. The ballistic properties of kenaf–Kevlar hybrid composites were studied and compared with those for Kevlar and kenaf–epoxy composites. The effect of hybridization was determined based on the specific ballistic energy absorption. Fiber orientation has significant influence on the mechanical properties of kenaf fiber-reinforced composites. R. Yahaya et al. reported the effect of layering sequence and chemical treatments on the mechanical properties of woven kenaf–aramid hybrid laminated composites. The potential of natural–synthetic fiber hybridization is explained in P. Wambua et al. There are many factors that encourage the use of natural fiber composites; their low weight, renewable sources, low energy in production, simple process, good insulation, and acoustic properties.
