| Description | The paper analyses the performance of dual configuration for steel Moment Resisting Frames, obtained by mixed use of rigid/ full strength and semirigid/ partial strength joints. Cases in which such configurations may be conveniently adopted for design are also highlighted. Seismic performance of dual MRF configurations is compared to the fully rigid one by means of dynamic inelastic analysis. Consequences of the design methodology on the structural response are also investigated. The ability of pushover analysis to reliably represent the structural response is finally analysed, in comparison with time history analysis.
