| Description | Design and analysis of complete factorial experiments with incomplete blocks and split-plots were discussed in Chapter 7. More complicated block structures are considered in this chapter. We first discuss blocked split-plot and blocked strip-plot experiments before presenting a general procedure for constructing complete factorial designs with simple block structures. The method of design key and the construction of designs for experiments with multiple processing stages are also discussed. We present a general notion of orthogonal designs and derive a result for checking design orthogonality, which can also be used to characterize the unit contrasts in each stratum and to determine the strata in which various treatment factorial effects are estimated under an orthogonal design. Such a result is useful for the design and analysis of experiments with multiple strata. Construction and selection of fractional factorial designs for multi-stratum experiments will be presented in the next chapter. 13.1 Orthogonal designs Book Name: Theory of Factorial Design |
