| Description | In this chapter, the very basic properties of SAR images, such as range direction, difference of incidence angle and off-nadir angle, and backscattering magnitude as a function of incidence angle, are explained with illustrations. SAR image interpretation becomes quite difficult if the image is rotated by 180°. In most cases, the SAR image is displayed so that radar illumination is from top to bottom. SAR images on frequency dependence and imaging window size are once again reviewed to understand the PolSAR image correctly. Even if the same area is used, L-band and X-band images are very different from each other. This is caused by the difference of scattering characteristics by frequency. It is important to interpret PolSAR images correctly based on these items. Book Name: Polarimetric SAR Imaging |
