| Description | The testing commission of the ISRM has recommended two chevron-notched rock fracture specimens (Ouchterlony, et al, 1987) - the chevron-notched short rod specimen (Figure 1) and chevron-notched bend specimen (Figure 2), for mode 1 rock fracture toughness measurement. Both specimens can be machined from a piece of rock core and have chevronnotches at the centre of the specimen. At present, round-robin testing for these two specimens is being carried out. |
