| Description | The sources of As are both natural and anthropogenic which affect different regions of the world both on a local as well as a regional scale (Bundschuh et al., 2010). Arsenic contamination in groundwater and sediments has been reported in many countries around the world, including Argentina, China, India, Mexico, and Bangladesh. Geogenic As is the main source in natural waters, which is concentrated in magmatic sulphides and iron ores (Rubinos et al., 2010). It occurs in environment with different redox states which form various species like As (V), As (III), As (0) and As (-III) (Choong et al., 2007). It is demonstrated that As concentrations in groundwater are controlled by a complex set of conditions and processes (Wang et al., 2009; Zheng et al., 2005).
