| Description | For LED light bars, troffer kits and troffers, and many other fixtures to be cost effective compared to high performance incumbent technologies, the LED products usually have to provide at least 100 LPW out of the fixture and have a ten-year warranty. Some manufacturers list 100,000 hours and even considerably longer, but they only have a five-year warranty. I do not care that much about rated lives; I just want to know how long the manufacturers will stand by behind their product. Since there are enough manufacturers who will offer ten-year warranties, that is usually what I require. Also, end customers are often hesitant to approve energy efficient lighting projects when the warranty expires before the payback period, and since paybacks are often longer than five years with LED products, the warranty on those products should be ten years.
