| Description | Superhydrophobic surfaces have promised for two decades tremendous applications, including self-cleaning, anti-icing, anti-bioadhesion, drag reduction, oil–water separation, and so on. Despite extensive progress, existing research achievements are far from real applications. This chapter is organized according to current scientific and applicable trends for superhydrophobic field, discusses the challenges faced, and proposes constructive comments. This chapter first combs the wetting model and preparation theory of superhydrophobic surfaces. Then, this chapter also describes how to design artificial multifunctional surfaces. Furthermore, current limitations faced to real application by constructing superhydrophobic surfaces with different dimensional structural units are pointed out, and the possible solutions are discussed. Finally, emerging applications in different fields are also considered, and the promising prospects within these fields are highlighted to lead future research.
