| Description | A large scale computing system was built using many personal computers connected by a high speed LAN, which has strong ability for parallel computing. The technique contributes to solving the large scale computing problem of rock and soil mechanics well. This paper creates a new parallel computing environment, called RsmVPC briefly, integrating PVM and WPVM for solving large scale rock engineering problem, The method for visual parallel programming based on the environment is also discussed. The parallel environment, which is successfully applied to the field of rock and soil mechanics computing, makes it possible for multi computer to solve a problem at the same time and provides a new approach for improving the computing speed and computing scale.
