There are innumerable things that can be done and countless ways of doing them, from carving a ham to building a dam, from raising a goat to floating a boat or from hanging a door to running a war. The discourse in the last chapter neither covers the whole breadth of my project undertakings, nor the full depth of my understanding of the profession, but it does show just how diverse the discipline can be. In my sampling, the diversity of the projects was obvious—citing the nature of the works, the stakeholders they involved and the documentation that was used for their execution. Projects of differing sizes, types and complexities do not lend themselves to cookie cutter approaches but, that said, there are certain elements that are common to most of them, such as lessons learned, project charters, project management plans, Gantt charts, work breakdown structures, and network diagrams.
