| Description | As building systems continue to become more intelligent, an increasing amount and variety of data can be extracted from them in order to enhance performance, increase efficiency, and decrease operating costs. Automated Fault Detection and Diagnostics (AFDD), is becoming increasingly popular within the intelligent buildings industry because providers of the technology are able to extract and normalize data, implement algorithms, and prioritize actionable results for their clients, which can generate significant ongoing savings throughout the life of the buildings that they manage. This chapter will review how today's AFDD providers harvest data from buildings, translate that data, manage assets, implement algorithms, and produce actionable, prioritized results for their clients. It will also explore how the integration of people, equipment, and processes can enhance these results and further increase savings.
