| Description | In Chapter 3 we have studied the Laplace transform and noted that a special case thereof is the Fourier transform. As we shall note in this chapter, the Fourier transform, similarly to the bilateral Laplace transform, decomposes general two-sided functions, those defined over the entire time axis −∞ < t <∞. We shall also note that by introducing distributions, and in particular, impulses, their derivatives and integrals, we can evaluate Fourier transforms of functions that have no transform in the ordinary sense, such as infinite duration two-sided periodic functions.
