| Description | Internet-of-things is popularly known as IoT. The technology is enabling different kinds of devices to communicate with each other, and aids in providing a common platform for the devices to communicate with each other. It reduces the required human effort. Devices using a wireless medium are usually more liable to compromise, hence these devices require security. Authentication is one of the oldest methodologies used to verify the identity of the communicating parties. Biometrics is a popular authenticating tool where fingerprint and retinal scans are used widely. The parameters used in biometrics are the unique characteristics of the individual, hence manipulation to the same can be detected early. This paper proposes the authentication methodology. It uses the biometric of the respective personnel to increase security to the data. It also uses a hashing mechanism to transmit the authenticated readings for evaluation. The system increases security by 3.09% and reliability by 6.63%. Book Name: Security and Privacy in the Internet of Things |
