| Description | The strip crown control range of the UPC system varies to a great degree with the strip width. As shown in Fig. 23.32, as the strip width increases, the strip crown control range becomes greater. The UPC system also offers additional flexibility when planning a rolling program. Because of the small rate of change of the roll gap profile during the short-stroke cyclical shifting of the work rolls, only insignificant changes are produced to the strip profile as shown in Fig. 23.33, which creates the conditions for schedulefree rolling.
