| Description | Industry 4.0 strives to integrate the physical environment with the digital world. With the increasing popularity of additive manufacturing (AM) in the recent years, it is time to remote monitoring and controlling such technology. This aids the production of personalized products. However, there are few attempts to remotely control or monitor AM systems in the literature. This paper discusses the development of a method to remotely control and monitor an AM machine by utilizing Industry 4.0 components such as the internet of things and cloud computing. Several software were developed to achieve this aim, such as custom web server and a mobile application. The mobile successfully communicated with the machine from the server and sent various commands, such as G-code, requesting motors data and viewing the printing process. This opens up new dimensions for additive manufacturing and mass personalization. Book Name: Industry 4.0 – Shaping The Future of The Digital World |
