| Description | In this study, we present the data of annual statistical reports provided by State Fire Service agencies, which ascertain that careless handling of fire, household electrical safety violations, and child fire-play remain the leading causes of numerous fire accidents, resulting in large-scale human and economic losses. Fire protection is the responsibility of every member of a society and requires a consistent nationwide approach. In Russia, fire safety is taught to children in all educational establishments. Strong and stable fire safety skills are developed through providing systematic long-term information and guidance. The purpose of this study was to assess the level of fire safety skill development among students of grades 5-8. A survey was conducted on 54 students. Based on the survey results, it was concluded that the level of fire safety skills was higher among grade 8 students. This is because these children had a clear idea of fire safety requirements after more than a year of involvement in the educational program that aimed at the development of students' fire safety behavior. To be more effective in future work with these students, the educational fire safety program was adequately adjusted. A series of events highlighting fire prevention problems were conducted.
