| Description | There are several strategies to teach and to learn Geotechnics in the University. In its broad sense Geotechnics consists of various branches, from Soil Mechanics to Engineering Geology, each of them having its own importance,, as natural or technical science. The best way for learning seems to be a combination of deductive and inductive approach. Undergraduate and postgraduate courses should form separate units, although Soil Engineering has an interdisciplinary character. Especially during undergraduate courses laboratory tests demonstrations, audiovisual aids and excursions are very useful. In authors' opinion, some keywords are characterizing the Soil Mechanics field, such as constitutive relations, limit state design, case records and so on.
