| Description | Many useful and nutritious products are obtained from the Animal Source foods that include eggs, cheese, meat, yogurt, and milk. These products contain beneficial active ingredients and functional compounds which are significant for human health. In addition, animal-based products are also enriched with proteins that are good source of energy. Moreover, animal-based products, particularly from dairy sources, are helpful in curtailing gastrointestinal ailments and improving the quality of life. However, consumption of animal-based food products is still less in developing and under-developed countries due to their cost and availability. In addition, socio-economic, religious, and cultural factors contribute to the consumption patterns of Animal Source Foods, which directly affects the human health.
