| Description | Antropogenic carbon dioxide is the primary greenhouse gas that is responsible for global warming, rising sea levels and increasing acidity of oceans. Conversion of the atmospheric carbon dioxide ( CO2 ) is still an open challenge for society. Nowadays much attention is being focused on the development of materials for the capture and conversion of CO2 into value added products and porphyrins are again present in this endevor. The development of reliable synthetic routes for porphyrin materials has facilitated to overcome the underlying CO2 reactivity challenges. Numerous efforts have been made to enhance the CO2 conversion effectiveness through catalysts. However some challenges in improving the activity and selectivity of the CO2 photoreduction reactions still remain. This review gives the fundamental aspects and recent research advances of porphyrins based nanostructured catalyst for CO2 conversion systems. Book Name: Nano-catalysts for Energy Applications |
