| Description | In order to clarify the consolidation behavior of clay ground under cyclic loading, a series of one-dimensional consolidation tests was carried out using inter-connected oedometers. A clay sample reconsolidated at high temperature was used along with a clay sample reconsolidated at room temperature to investigate cyclic effects on the consolidation properties of clay with a high-grade structure. A series of numerical analyses was also carried out using an elasto-viscous model, which can explain the various types of time-dependent behavior during the one-dimensional consolidation process under static loading. Applicability of this elasto-viscous model to the one-dimensional consolidation behavior of saturated clay under cyclic loading is discussed.
