| Description | The construction materials used in the contemporary house of the arid regions of southern Algeria have generated thermal discomfort and energy consumption. In this context, a thermal study was made on a modern house in the region of In Saleh, which is known for the aridity of its climate. The purpose of the thermal study is to evaluate the house's thermal behaviour and to contribute to the improvement of its energy efficiency. The study includes an experimental study and a dynamic thermal modelling using the software PLEAIDES on several variants. Experimental results have shown that the composition of the constructive elements allowed reaching 5°C. The results obtained from the dynamic thermal modelling have demonstrated that the reinforcement of the roof allows improving the energy efficiency of the modern house, which leads to reach a gap of 7°C during the over-heating period, and allows reducing the energy consumption up to 38%.
