The water footprint is a good indicator of efficiency of water used in different processes, and it includes direct and indirect use of water to produce goods or services during a certain period. Water footprint in irrigated agriculture is an important issue to be developed and studied, not only by growers and farmers but also by irrigation planners. Irrigation designer must follow strict criteria to provide high efficient systems, in order to allow farmers to have a good tool. Irrigation scheduling must consider water threshold and water holding capacity of the soil, daily water requirements of the crop, soil water potential, and wetting depth.
